Academic Offerings

🗣️ Bilingual Education

McNamara Elementary offers a bilingual instructional program for Spanish-speaking students who are developing English language skills. Instruction is delivered in both Spanish and English, allowing students to build a strong academic foundation while gradually becoming fluent English speakers. The program supports language development across subjects, helping students thrive in a multicultural learning environment.

🌍 English as a Second Language (ESL)

Our ESL program serves students whose home language is something other than English and who are learning English as an additional language. Through targeted instruction, students build skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The program integrates language development with core subjects—math, science, and social studies—to help students succeed academically while gaining confidence in English.

📘 Title I Program

As a Title I campus, McNamara receives federal funding to support the academic achievement of all students. Title I resources allow us to offer additional academic support, social services, and family engagement opportunities. The program also promotes school-wide improvement efforts and ensures that parents have meaningful ways to be involved in their child’s education.

🌟 Neighborhood / Vanguard Gifted & Talented Program

McNamara’s Vanguard Neighborhood Program is designed for students identified as Gifted and Talented (G/T). The program provides a differentiated learning experience that challenges students through increased depth, complexity, and pacing. It supports students with high intellectual ability, creative thinking, and leadership potential—all within their neighborhood school setting.
